Educational Background: I attended J.C. Calhoun on a softball scholarship from 1992-1994, where I received an Associate Degree in Secondary Teacher Education. I attended Athens State University from 1994 - 1996, where I received a Bachelor of Science with a major in Secondary Education, Social Sciences. I received my Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University in 2002. I completed my Reading Specialist Endorsement at Alabama A&M University in 2003. I graduated in December of 2012 with my Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of AL Birmingham.
Education Experience: I began working for the Madison County School System as an Asst. Coach for Varsity Softball at Sparkman High in 1997. In August 1997, I was hired at Buckhorn High School to teach 9th/10th Grade History and be the Varsity Volleyball Coach and Asst. Softball Coach. During the 2002-2003 school year, I served as the first High School Reading Coach for Madison County. I traveled between Hazel Green HS, Buckhorn HS, and New Hope HS. After serving in this position for a year, I went on to work for the Alabama State Dept. of Education - Alabama Reading Initiative. I serviced 66 Middle and High Schools across North Alabama. During my time with ARI - I trained numerous faculties and administrators on implementation of the Alabama Reading Initiative. In 2004, I joined Sparkman Middle School (Madison County Schools) as Asst. Principal. In 2009, I was fortunate enough to be chosen as the Principal of Mill Creek Elementary. Mill Creek is the newest elementary school in Madison City, opening during the 2009-10 school year. In August of 2013, I became Principal of Discovery Middle School in Madison City. I am in my second year at Athens Middle School.
Family: My husband Scotty works on Redstone Arsenal with COLSA, Inc. I have two sons, Dalton, who is a sophomore at UAH on a basketball scholarship and Bryant, who is in 10th Grade at Bob Jones HS.
Hobbies: I love to read, exercise and spend time with my family and friends.
